In 2007, Axium acquired a local community pharmacy in Bayamon and converted it into a specialty pharmacy with six associates in 2008. Then, on Sunday, May 2, 2010, our pharmacy experienced a major catastrophe as it burned down due to a short circuit. Luckily, it was closed, and no associate was present, avoiding further consequences.
From 2010, our pharmacy continued to expand its footprint in the specialty pharmacy market and moved to Guaynabo, PR. We relocated to a temporary site as we built out the new pharmacy, and just 99 days after the fire, we inaugurated our Guaynabo facility. Then, in late 2012, Axium Healthcare Pharmacy became part of the Kroger family of Companies. At Axium, we pride ourselves in raising the Specialty Pharmacy (SP) bar and, in 2010, became the 1st PR SP to be accredited by ACHC (Accreditation Commission for Health Care). In 2016, we raised the bar again by becoming the 1st PR SP with URAC accreditation (Utilization Review Accreditation Commission).
In October 2019, we moved to a new location in San Juan as we outgrew our previous Guaynabo Facility. Our current pharmacy is a 30,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility.
